Permissions
Human roles and who can do what inside Scrollmark.
This page covers how roles and permissions work for the people on your team. Everyone is managed under Settings → Team — they sign in with email and have a role like Owner or Author.
Human roles
Scrollmark ships with a small set of built-in roles. When you invite somebody, you pick one role from the dropdown. You can change the role later from the same Team page.
| Role | Who it's for | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | The person who created the org | Full control, including billing and member management |
| Author | Most social managers | Day-to-day work: inbox, journeys, calendar, analytics |
| Reader | Stakeholders, clients, execs | Read-only access for reporting |
| Influencer | External creators you work with | Scoped access for influencer collaborations |
Permissions are managed by role, not per-person
There's no per-user checkbox grid. If you need finer-grained control, the right move is usually to invite the person as a Reader and promote them once you trust the workflow.
The default role in the invite dialog is Author — that's the sweet spot for most people joining a social team.
What each role can do
Permissions in Scrollmark are expressed as actions like manage_user_access,
view_billing, manage_workflow, and so on. You'll never see those strings
in the UI — we show you menu items instead. Here's the practical breakdown:
| Capability | Owner | Author | Reader | Influencer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Invite or remove members | Yes | — | — | — |
| Change member roles | Yes | — | — | — |
| Manage billing | Yes | — | — | — |

| Reply in the inbox | Yes | Yes | — | — |

Inviting a teammate
Open Team
From the Settings sidebar, click Team. You'll see the list of members, their emails, and their current role.
Click Add Member
Top-right of the members table. You'll need manage_user_access — in
practice, that means you need to be an Owner.
Enter email and pick a role
Type the teammate's email, choose a role from the dropdown (defaults to Author), and click Invite Member.
They click the link
They'll receive an email with a join link. Until they accept, you'll see their row in the Pending Invites list at the bottom of the Add Member dialog, where you can Resend or Delete the invite.
Changing or removing roles
On the Team page, each row has a role dropdown and a trash icon.
- Change role: click the dropdown, pick the new role, it saves immediately. You'll see a "Role Updated Successfully" toast.
- Remove member: click the trash icon, confirm in the modal. The member loses access to this organization immediately.
Keep more than one Owner
If you're the only Owner and you leave, nobody on your team can invite new members or manage billing. Promote at least one trusted teammate to Owner before any handoff.
Leaving an organization
If you're in multiple organizations (agencies, contractors, and internal staff often are), you'll see a Leave Organization option at the bottom of the Settings sidebar. Clicking it switches you to another org you belong to and removes you from the current one. This does not cancel billing — talk to your Owner for that.
